Dr. Terrell Strayhorn is one of the world’s most prolific and influential scholars in the fields of education, psychology, and the academic study of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. One of his core passions is translating research-to-practice in ways that improve the material conditions and lived experiences of our most vulnerable populations in society. He accomplishes this mission largely through the more than 3000 public talks, distinguished lectures, and keynotes he has delivered across the globe.

Mr. Anderson Manuel is an elementary teacher in Massachusetts for the past 27 years, holds a master’s in early childhood education. He has taught Kindergarten through third grade and currently teaches first grade. Mr. Manuel mentors new teachers through the New Teacher Induction Program (NTIP) and serves on his school’s Instructional Leadership Team.

Leading with asset-based practices, Mrs. Ashley Rhoads’ core values are around equity and inclusivity. For the last 24 years, she has been employed by the fourth-largest urban school district in California and currently serves as a Transformative Social Emotional Learning Facilitator in Long Beach, CA. 

Mrs. Kara Burnett is a dedicated elementary educator in New York with over 12 years of experience. Brian spent the first half of his career focused on media arts (film, games, design) and later teaching / administration in those disciplines. His current research interests focus on humane emerging technologies. Early career highlights include working as an editor for Nickelodeon Animation Studios in the late 90s on shows like SpongeBob SquarePants. 

Dr. Scott Moss  

Academic Program Director, Master of Science in Learning Experience Design and Educational Technology Program at National University 

Dr. Moss has worked in K-12 education for 30 years and in higher education for 20 years. He is a Google Certified Innovator who has earned the Time Warner National Teacher and the Classroom of the Future Foundation’s Innovative Educator Awards. He received his M.A. in Educational Technology from SDSU and a doctorate in education from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Dr. Moss’ research interests include the ethical and effective use of AI in education. 

Mark Otis 

Senior Department Analyst at National University 

Mark brings experience from traditional higher education and the private sector, focusing on directing large and small technology projects. Having worked in various roles for public and private companies, educational institutions, and funding organizations, Mark is adept at harnessing AI to improve program development, performance, and support. His work involves helping with technical development in cross-platform systems, CRM/eMarketing, CMS/LMS/EMS, database management, cloud and SaaS solutions, and emerging technologies like AR and VR. 

Rachel Arnold 

5th Grade Teacher at Revo Academy 

After graduating from National University with her master’s degree in Instructional Design Rachel took on the role of fifth-grade teacher at Revo Academy in Southern California. She is the author of “Who You Know: Unlocking Innovations That Expand Students’ Networks,” which focuses on leveraging technology to expand students’ social capital.

Dr. Maggie Broderick

Dr. Maggie Broderick is an associate professor at National University, where she serves as a dissertation chair and as a faculty lead for Social Emotional Learning and Curriculum and Instruction. She is also the director of NU’s Advanced Research Center and the editor of the International Journal of Online Graduate Education. Dr. Broderick is an active scholar who is passionate about teaching and learning at all levels.

Dr. Fisher’s areas of interest include instructional design, curriculum development, and professional learning He has published over 250 books, chapters, and articles focused on school improvement and entered the Reading Hall of Fame in 2022.

Ms. Ortega, the coordinator for instruction and support for English language learners at HSHMC, has served as a classroom educator for 19 years. A national expert in SEL, Dr. Cipriano is the PI and Director of numerous major federal and foundation grants supporting the development and validation of novel SEL assessments, classroom observation practices, and SEL evaluation and efficacy trials.

In her new role as executive director, she will oversee and coordinate a statewide hub of activities and resources developed by leading researchers, UC and CSU teacher education programs, and partnering districts and schools to advance learning for neurodiverse students. California Governor Gavin Newsom appointed Ms. Towery to the California State Board of Education.
